So many big tunes. I didn't realize they all came from Joe Gibbs. Did he have a house band?

Hey Rob - here's what I could find out

Joe Gibbs’ primary studio band during his golden era was known as The Professionals. This group included some of Jamaica's most legendary instrumentalists, many of whom also worked with producers like Bunny Lee, Channel One, and Studio One.

Bass:

Robbie Shakespeare – of Sly & Robbie fame; played on many of Gibbs’ rockers and roots reggae hits.

Lloyd Parks – also a singer; known for tight, melodic lines.

Boris Gardiner – veteran bassist and singer with deep roots in ska and rocksteady.

Drums:

Sly Dunbar – half of the iconic duo Sly & Robbie, brought the rockers sound to Gibbs’ productions.

Carlton ‘Santa’ Davis – worked extensively in the roots era.

Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace – known for his militant and swinging drum patterns.

Keys:

Ernest Ranglin – guitar & arrangement legend, also contributed keyboard work early on.

Franklyn "Bubbler" Waul – helped define the bubbling organ groove.

Winston Wright – master of the Hammond and organ shuffle, key player on hits.

Guitar:

Earl "Chinna" Smith – one of the most recorded reggae guitarists ever.

Tony Chin – known for his work with Soul Syndicate and Gibbs.

Willie Lindo – smooth chord work and expressive solos.

Horns:

Tommy McCook – ex-Skatalites, saxophonist, and arranger.
